Elena/Lore

Elena

The star of Company Lumidouce. A renowned star of an unknown pedigree.

—Description from Official Website

Personality

A young lady with a captivating voice. To critics, she is the embodiment of artistic perfection.
To the common man, however, she is a talented woman with a flaring temper.

—In-game character attributes and profile page text

At a first glance, Elena appears to be cold and blunt. Those who deal with her in professional settings note her to be extremely self-centered and would far prefer to do things her own way rather than what was told for her to do, insisting she knows the best course of action. Her callousness has garnered her an infamy amongst performers, with many noting her to be difficult and ‘impossible to work with.’ Her cooperation is said to be a rare event to witness.

Elena is rather prideful and frequently runs into trouble because of her personality. She displays awareness for her attitude, claiming that she knows that her personality may leave much to be desired, but does not express any wishes to change. Many say she makes a bad first impression, and Elena says she has no problem with it, because she does not seek to please others.

Elena holds herself in high regard and has immense pride in her craft. Despite her high pride and seemingly dismissive – if not flat out rude – way of treating others, she keeps an ear pressed to the door, taking note of critiques towards her. She says she aims for ‘pure perfection,’ and would practice for hours in order to correct what has been criticized.

Appearance

Elena uses the tall female model. She wears a light blue dress with puffy sleeves. Her long, blond hair is styled in curls. Her left arm, hidden beneath her long dark sleeves and white glove, is inflicted with decay caused by erosion. Her eyes feature a diamond-shaped pupil that is shared with other characters known to be from Khaenri’ah.

Official Introduction

Forsaken, Even By the Heavens

If one were to ask who Elena was, the tabloids would have many less-than-pleasant words to share.

…If you were to ask Fontaine, its children would echo in unison: a diva. In both essences of the word, it rings rather true; her cutthroat personality left no space for outsiders to meddle with her perfected performance. Though her attitude left much to be desired, there was no denying that even the most restless of eyes can be captured by her alluring presence on the stage.

However, if you were to ask the barren, broken, wasted land of the godless… it would whisper tales of the olden days filled with glory and promise. But it would whisper too—

Princess, have you forgotten who you truly are?

Fontaine is a witness to many a performance. The world is the very stage in which its people flourish.

Of course, there is also the stage of Opera Epiclese. It is a stage where many thespians dream of performing on.

To a certain chantress, however, the grand stage is as special as the common finch chirping by a window or a speck of dust floating in the air.

Likewise, the people of Fontaine are very much familiar with Elena. That head full of arrogance and wavy blond hair, the confidence in her stride, the sharp eyes, the trace of a sweet scent she leaves in the air…

The people of Fontaine are familiar with the artist called Elena.

The same cannot be said for the person called Elena.

Name: Elena

Birthplace: Fontaine

Birthday: July 25

Works as a soprano in Company Lumidouce. Renowned as the prima donna of the company.

Though her birthplace is listed as Fontaine, her other records are practically nonexistent. Even her surname is kept under lock and key, only known by her employers.

Possibly an immigrant majority of her life who moved back home? Was only noted to appear in Fontaine when she appeared as an adult. No Fontainian academic institute note an ‘Elena’ in their records.

There is a high potential that Elena is merely a stage name. Make sure to ask about her name at the next interview!

Adventurer Alysson #████████

Commission Success Rate: 98%

Commissions Completed: 231

Available for Abyss-related investigations or bounty hunting. Rates range between 6000 to 15000 Mora depending on the complexity of commission.

[Transcript]

— Are you able to take international commissions?

Yes! The commission fee will be adjusted, of course.

— No worries about the fee. I will cover all living expenses and the travel fee on top of the commission fee.

…All of it?

— Yes. I’ll pay 100 percent of the commission fee upfront, and I’ll give you an allowance of eighty thousand Mora along with it.

E-eighty?!

— Yes. Is that too little?

No, it’s… too much, I’d say…

— Well, I pay how much I think the commission is worth.

Wait. What do you want me to do?

— Go to Sumeru, make a description of the Ley Lines in the Gandha Hill area within two weeks, and mark their locations on the map.

That’s it?

— Yes.

All that, for the commission fee and fifty thousand Mora?

— …Yes. Am I not clear enough?

No! Plenty clear!

Last recorded trace of Adventurer #████████ before her disappearance. The commissioner is unknown. It is speculated that the commissioner may have deliberately led Alysson to her disappearance as the Ley Lines in Gandha Hill were said to have been tainted with Abyssal energy during the time.

Friendship Lv. 5

Travel Log, Day 16794

I will board the streamer bound for Natlan later today.

The moment I step foot in those lands, I will no longer be Suzette. I will become Hyacinth, an aspiring writer journeying all the way from the land of freedom.

I have taken measures to change my appearance. Five years have passed since Suzette’s death, and it would be no good to appear with the body of a dead woman.

Natlan seems promising. The Abyss is allegedly more active there. There is a good chance I can run into some mages I can question.

The question will be which tribe I shall find my shelter in, but all in good time.

I will play the role of a lost, dainty woman. It would be easy to find a corrupted man I can rob once he lets down his guard and thinks he has cornered his prey. From there, I’ll see where I can go.

I have no concrete plans.

I have nothing.

I regret killing Suzette so soon.

‎ ‎ Character Story 5

Friendship Lv. 6

Gods have forsaken her.

Her land is a wreckage.

Her people have been in agony.

To side with the heavens now would be to betray the very blood that flows in her veins. Ice cold and seeking vengeance, she felt the frost of utter disdain rush through her flesh.

Cursed is this woman, to be trapped in a vessel of rotting youth.

Cursed is this existence, with nothing but loneliness to indulge in.

Cursed is this blood, tainted with the sin of those she did not know.

Long gone were the days where she could freely laugh, idling under the warmth of the sun.

That haughty youthfulness turned into arrogance.

Their blessing? What need do I have for that?”

‎ ‎ An Old Lullaby

Friendship Lv. 3

The first song she learned was one that her mother hummed. It was a lullaby narrating the story of a girl lost in the forest, only to be found by her mother before the moon plunged the world in its milky light.

Cradled in warm arms, Idun would bury her face on her mother’s hair. She’d listen to the melody as it flowed in the air, feel the vibrations of the flesh with every note. And soon enough, Idun would fall asleep. When she awakens, it is in her bed – soft, safe, and sound – but missing the warmth of a mother’s love.

That yearning would soon turn into heartache as an illness tears her mother’s body apart. Desperately, she clung to cold and stiff hands. But no tears came out. No, not a single drop.

Come the burial, she was stone-faced. She had grown numb to the neverending condolences sent her way. None of them could bring back her mother. None of them mattered.

The young princess crawls into her bed, attendants waiting by for her final orders of the day. She waves them off.

Left alone with her thoughts, Idun closed her eyes. And without knowing it, her lips formed the words her mother once sung.

She could not bring herself to finish it. To finish the song means to say goodbye to mother, only this time, there was no promise to meet her in the morrow.

Perhaps she will someday find the courage to sing the song in full.

‎ ‎ Vision

Friendship Lv. 6

Elena indulges in materialism every now and then. The opera pays well enough for her vices— that is, shopping. Some grandiose dresses, expensive heels, big gems that one can see from a mile away… Elena’s tastes rack up receipts that may very well unroll into a grand walkway carpet. Fanciful is her preference for items; its functionality comes second.

One day –

“Visions! Good as genuine, you can check yourself, ma’am, sir!”

Visions?

Elena, intrigued against her will, finds herself stepping closer to the suspicious stall. On the table were gems, glowing in various colors matching the elements.

She points at the one in green, glowing in patterns as though it was breathing. She inquires, “What is it doing?”

“Glowing Visions indicate reactions to nearby elements, ma’am.”

Elena scoffs. No, that didn’t sound right. If that were true, a room filled with Allogenes would be a disco.

She then points to a dull, silver one. “And that? Why is it not colored anything?”

“It’s a masterless Vision. That occurs when Vision holders pass away, ma’am.”

Elena raises a brow. Who would want to buy one?

She points to another gem. “This isn’t doing anything.”

“It’s meant to show a passive state of the user, ma’am,” The vendor explains. “Ah… ma’am, the color matches your eyes.”

Elena’s eyes narrow. “Does it, now?”

Elena observes the blue gem in her hands as she lays in bed. It glows faintly, just enough that it casts a hue against her skin.

Then, a sigh.

“It’s not even that pretty when you look at it up close. What a letdown.”

Character Voice-Overs
‎ Arleccchino
About Elena: Artist
The children talk about her sometimes, and I’d catch wind of their wistful murmurs of wishing to see her perform in person. Other mouths, however, spit vitriol towards her. In any case, everyone seems to say the same thing when all is said and done. They all say she’s talented. But as for whether she is an angel on the stage or a beastly, ill-tempered woman… that’s none of my concern.
About Elena: Eyes
Something about her eyes is quite familiar. I know very little of her, but there is a strange pull that I feel, and the flames within me intensify. Suffice to say, I am wary of what she stirs. It is rather… unsettling.
‎ Charlotte
About Elena
I’ll be honest, Miss Elena’s difficult to talk to. I can’t even approach her to hint at an interview. She just says ‘no,’ and I haven’t even said anything to her yet! That’s why it’s hard to talk to her – she doesn’t give you a chance to start!
‎ Lynette
About Elena
She’s popular for a good reason. In every performance, her true self disappears, and she becomes her role entirely.
‎ Lyney
About Elena
Everyone knows of Miss Elena. I’ve seen a few shows of her – that is, when I manage to snag them ahead of everyone by… secrets of the trade! She’s a good performer. It’s just that… Well, I’ve been a witness to her diva fits more than once, and it isn’t pretty.
‎ Neuvillette
About Elena
Performers have their own peculiar tendencies. In fact, many say that the more talented, the more eccentric the artist is. Miss Elena is a living evidence of this.
